I promise to someday document my work properly and put it on DA where I can begin to get exposure.

I realize that it cannot possibly hurt to take a camera to class or to show DA my haphazard attempts at installation.

I believe that dispite how much I hate crits, all positive criticism is useful to my practice and allows me to learn.

Okay, so that is done.

I'm thinking about starting up a little 'business venture', perhaps through DA. I have been working on this ball joint doll (see gallery), and dolls in general...and have found myself completely enamoured with both the process and the concept. Could this be an actual, honest-to-god sign that I might, someday, be able to do the same thing for more than a few months at a time, and perhaps have a chance at getting paid for it? I will not jump to conclusions. But I think I really want to start a little asian-style ball joint doll enterprise.

As far as I have researched, noone in Canada is sculpting and casting their own Asian-style bjds... and I am painfully aware as a fan of them, that there is a pretty big market in this country. Not that I am concerned about catering to a big market. Honestly I'd be pleased to sell a couple of dolls a year. But it is a possibility that looks rosier and rosier every time I run it through my head. Its something I could do on the side, and conceivably really enjoy it.

I have decided to make a few more base sculpts after finishing my little Hito-kun... probably another boy and a girl, and to conduct some research into what types of resin are best, or most used, for casting jointed dolls. I am going to put together a little costs vs. labour plan and see if it is viable to start small and hope for the best. Anybody have any advice for me? I am a blank slate, desperate to be written on.

I feel so positive about this.... even if I just do it for my own entertainment I feel like I would be totally into it. What do you guys think? Would you buy a reasonably priced dollfie from some crazy Canadian broad in art school? *LOL* Please, give me as much feedback as you have time for. I would really appreciate it.
